Admission Criteria
Red Rock Canyon School accepts youth who exhibit emotional and or behavioral problems which prevent them from functioning adequately in their home or community environments. Referrals to our program can be initiated by psychiatrists, other mental health professionals, school staff, or the child's parents. Youth are accepted into Red Rock Canyon School only after a thorough evaluation has been conducted to assess a youth's needs and to determine the most appropriate level of care. Red Rock Canyon School does not restrict admissions based upon ethnic or cultural background, religion or gender.
Our admissions guidelines include:
- 12-17 years of age
- History of emotional problems such as poor self-esteem, lack of coping skills, lack of anger management skills, depression, poor impulse control, or self-destructive behaviors
- History of drug/alcohol abuse and/or addiction
- History of school problems, such as poor academic performance, behavior problems, mild to moderate learning disability
- History of abuse
- History of failed attempts in less restrictive treatment
Our exclusionary criteria include:
- History of extreme violence
- History of sexual offenses
- Severe learning disabilities
- Serious problems with bowel control
- Severe food allergies requiring specialized dietary program
